MoFi SourcePoint 10 Bookshelf Loudspeaker (pair)

A two-way, 91 dB, 10" concentric driver standmount designed by legendary speaker engineer Andrew Jones.

Formerly of ELAC, Andrew Jones is the closest wehave to a rock star in loudspeaker design world. He is now with MoFi Electronics and has been given a carte blanche brief to design a new speaker.

Of course, it had to be based on Andrew'spassion and area of expertise, the concentric driver. Thisallows a two-way design to be a point source, offering exceptional timing and imaging. The result is the SourcePoint 10.

Twin Drive Magnets

Placing one driver within another and optimizing their frequency response isn't enough, and theheart of the SourcePoint 10 isan all-new Twin-Drive high-flux neodymium magnet system. This systemminimizes distortion in the motor structure of the drive unit. Thesedistortions generatenew frequencies outside of the original signal, and the focus with SourcePoint is to stop these before they even begin.

Twin-Drive's symmetrical magnetic fieldeliminates flux modulation which results inextremely low intermodulation distortion (IMD). The result is a truly pure and accurate sound.

Drivers and Cabs

Andrew spent 18 months perfecting the 10" concentric driver and designing it so that it produces a large amount of bassbut also provides a consistent waveguide for the 1.25" soft-dome tweeter.

To minimize resonance created by that large woofer, the SourcePoint 10 uses 1" thick MDF on the sides, wrapped in a beautiful wood veneer. The front baffle is an amazing 2" thick sculpted MDF slab finished in a smooth satin-black coating. With internal bracing each speaker weighs in at an amazing 46.2 lb. But with its 91 dB efficiency, it's an easy drive for nearly every amp, tube or solid-state.
