Focal had a really difficult job bettering their renowned flagship, the Utopia 2020. Two years on, and there are some incremental upgrades that make this one of the best open-back dynamic headphones we sell.
The Utopia 2022 has a slightly more informal, less stern look than the all-black 2020. A Focal logo sits over the voice coil cover, and there's a splash of color, keeping the refined look, but just making it a little more accessible.
The sonic change is an improved voice coil that offers even more of that speed and detail that these headphones are rightly famous for. High-frequency response is smoothed out but with no loss of detail, and transientability is better.
