The Carina Bookshelf Speakers
Building upon its performance, Carina continues ELAC??s tradition of utilising the JET tweeter, chosen for its amazing clarity, dynamics, and attack. To match this capability, a new, in-house-developed proprietary compound curvature aluminium coned woofer is seamlessly blended via a sophisticated multi-element crossover to produce an organic, lifelike sound experience. Fresh looks, fresh sound; the new Carina is destined to further enhance ELAC's class-leading reputation.
JET Folded Air-Motion-Transformer
Delivering true high-definition sound, ELAC??s JET tweeters enthral with their lightning-fast response and wide dynamic range, offering minimal distortion, lots of headroom, and a wider frequency range. The ELAC JET tweeter is one of the most legendary tweeters in the industry and has won international praise with its transparent and effortless sound image.
Compound Curvature Aluminium Woofer
To ensure the JET tweeter works well with the woofer and transitions smoothly, the compound curvature cone was created to manage the cone's vibrations and extend its performance beyond what the woofer can handle. A large-diameter voice coil and oversized vented pole piece magnet combine to give remarkable bass dynamics and a rich, powerful performance.
Downward Firing Port
For more flexible speaker placement and to minimise ventilation noise, the bass reflex port on the Carina series is directed to the floor, exiting the bottom of the speaker cabinet in a down-firing configuration.
Performance
The BS243.4s look sleek, solid, curvy, and modern, with chamfered front-side corners and a trapezoidal footprint. Building upon the 240's performance, Carina continues ELAC??s tradition of utilising the JET tweeter, chosen for its amazing clarity, dynamics, and attack. To match this capability, a new in-house-developed proprietary compound curvature aluminium coned woofer is seamlessly blended via a sophisticated multi-element crossover to produce an organic, lifelike sound experience.
Elac calls their AMT tweeters "air motion transformers" because they move air at a velocity several times higher than that of the diaphragm moving it. As a result, the AMT tweeter's sensitivity and transient response are improved. The JET tweeter delivers high piano notes with a finely drawn attack and no blurring or ringing on overtones.
To ensure the JET tweeter works well with the woofer, the aluminium woofer has a specially shaped cone that helps prevent distortion and allows it to perform effectively beyond its usual range. Additionally, a large-diameter voice coil and oversized vented pole piece magnet combine to give remarkable bass dynamics and a rich, powerful performance. The woofer features a unique curved design that extends its high-frequency response to provide better integration with the Jet tweeter. A downward-firing port on the speaker??s bottom reduces ventilation noise and permits installation in a bookshelf or against a wall.
Elac's new Carina BS243.4 loudspeaker sounds more refined than any similarly priced loudspeaker. Mainly, though, the stand-mounted Elac's greatest virtue is its super smooth octave-to-octave balance.
