Crafted. Honed. Perfected.
The 702 S3 Signature takes Bowers & Wilkins state-of-the-art flagship 700 Series floorstanding loudspeaker and evolves it to deliver unparalleled levels of performance. 702 S3 Signature features optimized versions of their most advanced technologies as well as new ones. Engineered for pristine studio-quality sound at home, the 702 S3 Signature utilizes upgraded midrange and low-frequency motor systems, improved capacitors, revised speaker terminals, plus a more open tweeter grille mesh, as developed for Bowers & Wilkins 800 Series Signature loudspeakers.
Solid Body Tweeter
The 700 Series Signature models feature the latest generation of Bowers & Wilkins iconic Solid Body Tweeter-on-Top housing. Its new, more elongated form incorporates a longer tube-loading system to produce an even more free and open sound with high frequencies. The carefully decoupled housing is milled from a single solid block of aluminum to better resist resonance.
Carbon Dome Tweeter
Carbon Dome tweeters are purpose-built for the 700 Series. Delivering a dramatic improvement on older generations of tweeter dome technologies, they raise the breakup threshold to 47kHz, for pinpoint imaging accuracy and detail.
Biomimetic Suspension
Sometimes, making a big difference takes unconventional thinking. The transition from Bowers & Wilkins famous yellow Aramid Fiber midrange cones to their Continuum cone technology resulted in a massive improvement to midrange performance. Now, theyve turned their attention to another crucial element in a loudspeaker cone: the fabric spider. The new Biomimetic Suspension revolutionizes midrange cone performance by greatly reducing the unwanted air pressure and coloration that a conventional fabric spider can generate. The result? Midrange transparency you wouldnt believe possible.
Continuum Cone
Thanks to its composite construction, the Continuum cone avoids the abrupt transitions in behavior that can impair the performance of a conventional drive unit. The result is a more open, neutral performance that delivers voices and instruments with precision and transparency.
Upgraded Crossovers
The new 700 Series Signature models use upgraded crossover designs crafted by Bowers & Wilkins expert engineers. Developed using rigorous testing, their engineers carefully optimize these crossovers to perfection, to maximize the loudspeakers performance.
Decoupled Midrange Assembly
The 702 S3 Signature features a dedicated midrange cone using four key Bowers & Wilkins technologies: the Continuum cone, FST, Biomimetic Suspension and midrange decoupling, the latter ensuring minimal interference from the operation of the loudspeakers bass drivers.
Aerofoil Profile Bass Cone
Developed using advanced computer modelling techniques, the Aerofoil Profile bass cone has variable thickness, providing stiffness and rigidity where its needed most. The result is deep and dynamic bass.
Curved Baffle
The new 700 Series Signature models feature a curved front baffle. This allows the midrange and bass drivers to be located in individual pod-type housings that sit proud of the speaker baffle. When combined with the curvature of the structure, this new approach derived from the 800 Series Diamond reduces the audible impact of the cabinet, creating a cleaner, more open and more immersive sound.
